Fierce Love
With this kind of fiery love,
We as humans so far only know,
One outcome,
Complete heartbreak.
Have we as humans chosen half hearted love,
Without this fiery passion,
Without this deepest intimacy,
So that we feel the comfort of our protected hearts together?
Have we created an in-between kind of love,
From our distrusting hearts.
The rolling waves crash upon the shore,
The stunning geese fly south,
The succulent, perfect peach falls to the ground,
And will this fiery love,
End in temper tantrums of heartbreak?
This fierce love,
Leaves us wondering,
Can we hold this ecstasy,
Can we sustain this fierce intimacy?
Is this kind of love,
Worth risking the bliss?
Do the brilliant petal kisses of this flowering love,
Always fall and wile?
Will our hearts twist and then burst into distrust?
I pray now with all of my passionate might,
That we find our way,
To trust this fierce love,
To trust the ecstasy of our hearts,
To trust that this fierce love,
Can bloom,
And perhaps this kind of love,
May be,
The true way of the open heart,
That we as humans have forfeited,
For the safety and comfort,
Of our oh so half hearted, in-between love…
