Giving My Notice

I don't remember signing on for this circus act

I don’t remember consenting to dress in this leopard skin.

Judy, Can you hear me?

Your circus hoops are too high.

Now look,

You lit these hoops on fire!

Who’s circus act is this?

Not mine.

What about this tender child,

Who lives beneath your impossible expectations?

Today, This tender, gentle child within me,

Turns in my leopard skin,

Gives my full notice.

I decide today,

To be fully human,

to put myself on notice,

That my silly performance,

Is forever cancelled.

Today,

I walk away,

With the awareness of my tender child within,

To sit by this lovely rock,

And simply

 breathe…
