Today,
We sat in the spring field,
Talking for hours,
My face lit like a brilliant lamp,
Crickets and frogs,
Leapt for joy,
Oaks and maples,
Held hands,
And swayed as their fingered branches,
Reached to hear you,
Birds hovered,
Leaning towards you,
Chanting,
The sunbeams sparkled,
In hopes of your glance,
Wind stilled,
To hear every word.
I shared my joys and sorrows,
You shared your fanciful play.
We sat for hours,
Never uttering a word…
